Standards-based design, development, writing and editing for the web
Phew. That was a bit of an adventure. I'm now running the Jungle's 2400 Googleplex gigathrub server system on CentOS. I had been using Fedora Core, but with a release every few months, I just couldn't keep up with the upgrades. The train was hurtling down the track and I wanted off. Of course I had to jump.
See, there's no upgrade path between the two, even though they're quite similar. So you basically have to set aside the data you want to keep, (like you know, all your users' email and website stuff), and then wipe your production server's hard disk and install fresh.
Ulp. Trouble is, Linux puts everything essential all over hell's half acre. And good luck keeping track of all those directories, conf files and what not. But I think I've managed it. I'm running without some of the J's anti-spam stuff now but I will figure that out soon enough.
So I entreat my users, clients and observers to contact me about any bits of wierdness or just-plain-broken-ness.
